Lady Warriors Fade Late, Fall to Highlands Latin

Heritage Christian Academy ran out of juice at the end of their game Saturday with Highlands Latin, dropping a 31-21 decision at Warrior Gym.

The Lady Warriors are already playing without their leading scorer Kinley Deason for six weeks due to a foot injury.  However, they got balanced scoring in the first half as they led 7-3 after one quarter.  Highlands stretched out to a four-point lead, but HCA scored the final five points of the half including a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Meredith Crunk for a 14-13 lead.

Points were hard to come by in the third quarter as HCA took an 18-16 lead into the fourth quarter.  The game turned midway through the final frame when HCA was called for the rare offensive intentional foul.  Highlands converted two free throws that ignited a quick 7-0 run, and the Lady Warriors weren’t able to recover.

Abbi Bullock led the Lady Warriors with six points, with Crunk adding five points and eight rebounds.  Maggie Britton knocked down a pair of buckets in the first quarter.  HCA falls to 0-2 in KCAA play.  They will host defending region champion Oak Ridge Christian Thursday.
