Offensive Struggles Cost Lady Blazers in Loss to Crittenden

An offensive lull at the beginning of the second half was too much for the UHA Lady Blazers to overcome Saturday evening. Crittenden County held Lily Hendricks and Meghan Adams to a combined six points as the Lady Rockets picked up a 47-35 win in Marion.

The Lady Rockets got a nine point first quarter from Jaelyn Duncan as Crittenden County got out to a 15-11 first quarter lead. Senior Aniah Dailey had a big start for the Lady Blazers with seven points in the first.

Neither team could get much going offensively during the 2nd quarter. UHA was limited to two field goals, while Crittenden County could muster only three. The Lady Rockets were able to get enough done to extend the lead to 27-20 going into the locker room.

The Lady Rockets effectively finished things off with another big defensive effort in the third quarter. Crittenden County limited the Lady to just one field goal and four points total, as they expanded the lead to 38-24 headed into the final eight minutes.

Crittenden County was able to keep UHA at arms length in the final quarter, as the Lady Rockets held on for the 12 point win.

7th grader Alecia Davis was the top scorer for UHA with 12 points. Aniah Dailey ended up with eight points, only one coming after the first quarter. Crittenden’s defense shutdown seniors Lily Hendricks and Meghan Adams. Hendricks had two points, both coming on free throws, while Adams finished the game with four points.

Jaelyn Duncan ended up with 14 points. Taylor Guess added 12 points for the Lady Rockets, while Nahla Woodward added 8.
