Four players accounted for all the scoring Tuesday night, as the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers picked up their third win of the season. Hoptown used a strong first quarter to take control of the game on their way to a 63-54 win over the Logan County Lady Cougars at Tiger Gym.
Hopkinsville’s offense had one of its better quarter of the season to start the game. The Lady Tigers got outside shooting from Shaterrea Bellamy, Jakayla Epps, and Lakayla Samuel, while Donisha Flowers took care of things inside, as Hopkinsville took a 19-10 lead after the opening quarter.
Bellamy, Epps, and Flowers continued to keep the offense rolling in the second quarter. Flowers would add 8 points in the quarter, as the Lady Tigers kept their lead at nine points at 36-27 headed into the locker room at the break.
Hopkinsville then effectively closed out the game in the third quarter. Lakayla Samuel took things over for the Lady Tigers in the third, scoring nine points in the quarter, as Hopkinsville pushed the lead on out to sixteen points at 54-38.
Hoptown would then get enough offense in the final quarter to hold off any rally attempt from Logan County, as the Lady Tigers held on for the nine point win.
Donisha Flowers finished with 19 points for Hopkinsville. Jakayla Epps added 16 points. Shaterrea Bellamy and Lakayla Samuel each had 14 points for the Lady Tigers.
Logan County was paced by Peyton Vanzant and Paige Vanzant with 13 points each. Kadyn Costello was the other Lady Cougar in double figures with 12 points.
Hopkinsville improves to 3-3 with the win.
