Lady Maroons Use 2nd Half to Calm the Storm

For a half Tuesday night, it looked as if the Hopkins Central Lady Storm might have a shot to upset the Madisonville Lady Maroons. Note, that was for a half. The Lady Maroons, after trailing by one at the break, used a combination of defensive pressure and an offensive outburst to rally past the Lady Storm 70-45 in a 7th District matchup at Mortons Gap.

Hopkins Central was able to contain the Madisonville offense for the first two quarters, limiting the Lady Maroons to just 25 first half points. The half ended with the Lady Maroons trailing 26-25.

Then cam the 3rd quarter. Madisonville limited Hopkins Central to just two points in the third quarter, as the Lady Maroons came rolling back and cruised to the big win in the final sixteen minutes of play.

Two Lady Maroons finished the game with double-doubles. Courtney Peyton had 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Kara Franklin ended up with 10 points and 11 boards. Lindsey Peyton had 15 points. Sophomore point guard Camryn LaGrange was solid with 12 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals.

With the win, the Lady Maroons improve to 5-0 on the season. Hopkins Central falls to 2-3.
