
The Madisonville Maroons will head off to the King of the Bluegrass without a blemish on their early season record. The Maroons opened fast and kept the pedal down Tuesday night, cruising past Hopkins Central 64-45 in a 7th District matchup Tuesday night in Mortons Gap.
The Maroons jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening moments of the game. That lead would grow to 26-9 at the end of the opening quarter. The Maroon offense kept pouring the gas on in the 2nd quarter. By the end of the quarter, Madisonville was up 49-19 as the teams headed off to the locker room.
Madisonville got the lead out to 35 points early in the 3rd quarter, when enacted the running clock for the rest of the contest. From that point on, Maroon reserves took over for the rest of the game.
Central would cut the lead to 56-31 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Storm kept whittling away at the lead against the Madisonville backups, and would cut the lead down to 19 by the end of the game.
Kenny White was the only Maroon to reach double figures with 18 points. Ksuan Casey, Deljuan Johnson, and Zach Tow finished with 8 points each. Ashton Gaines added 6 points for Madisonville.
The Maroons improve to 5-0 on the season, while Hopkins Central falls to 0-6.
