
The Fort Campbell girls’ basketball team opened play at the Russellville Food Bank Classic on Thursday night, falling to the host Lady Panthers 57-19. The Lady Falcons will be back in action on Saturday against West Creek, TN, before closing out the tournament with a game on Sunday.
The Lady Panthers took control early, leading 14-3 after the first quarter and 29-6 at the halftime break. Jasmine Patel scored 10 first-half points to lead Russellville.
The Lady Falcon offense picked up a bit with 8 points in the third quarter, including 3 each from Asia Cabili and Danielle Houston. But Anastasia Dowlen chipped in 4 for the Lady Panthers and they led 42-14 going to the fourth.
Russellville’s Jordin Morris put up 7 points over the final 8 minutes, outscoring Fort Campbell on her own to see out the victory.
The Lady Falcons shot just 7-53 from the floor, including 5-29 from 3-point range. Houston and Marissa Cole led the team with 6 points each, followed by Cabili with 5.
Russellville struggled shooting the ball as well, finishing 24-73, but shot a respectable 6-19 from long range. Dowlen finished with 12, followed by Patel with 13. The Lady Panthers held a 54-26 rebounding edge.
