Lady Wildcat Rally Stops Short in Loss to Logan County

Logan County used a 21-0 run that was the difference in a 61-52 win over Trigg County Friday in the first round of the Russellville Food Bank Classic.

Trigg trailed by one at halftime but their scoring drought saw the Lady Cougars build a 42-30 lead after three quarters.  Trigg led 26-19 midway through the second quarter until Logan answered with the next 21 points that extended into the third quarter.

The Lady Wildcats cut the lead to seven points with 3:51 left and down to four points with 1:12 left.  However, Logan hit 10-of-17 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Lady Wildcats.

Logan was 22-of-39 at the charity stripe for the game, while Trigg County, who has struggled with FT percentage this year, hit 12-of-20.

Olivia Noffsinger led Trigg County with 16 points.  Adri Phillips added 10 points.  Trigg had four players foul out in the contest.

Peyton Vanzant led all scorers with 23 points, including 9-of-12 at the free throw line.

Trigg County will play Warren Central (2-6) Saturday afternoon at 4:30 in the consolation bracket.
