Warren Central failed to get off a shot to tie or win the game in the final seconds, as the Trigg County Lady Wildcats picked up a 49-47 win over the Lady Dragons in the second day of the Food Bank Holiday Classic Saturday at Russellville High School. The win was a nice rebound for the Lady Wildcats after falling to Logan County on Friday.

The game was a close battle throughout the first half. Behind the play of Kyleigh Ray, who scored eight points in the opening quarter, Warren Central took a 14-11 lead.

The two teams went back and forth during the second quarter, with neither able to seize control of the contest. The first half ended with Warren Central still holding a three point lead at 25-22.

With Adri Phillips and Rylee Bush stepping up in the 3rd quarter, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats got to the lead. Phillips scored 8 in the quarter, while Bush added 8, as the Lady Wildcats took a 41-35 lead going into the final quarter.

Trigg County missed some key free throws and committed some untimely turnovers coming down the stretch, allowing Warren Central to have the ball, trailing by two, with just under ten seconds to go. However, as the Lady Dragons attempted to drive down the right hand side of the lane for an attempt at a game tying shot, Olivia Noffsinger knocked the ball away. The Lady Dragons recovered the ball just as the horn sounded, never having got off a final shot attempt.

Trigg County was led by Rylee Bush, who finished with 12 points. Adri Phillips had 11 points. Olivia Noffsinger ended up in double figures as well with 10 points.

Warren Central was paced by Kyleigh Ray with 16 points. Krisheana Johnson had 15 points for the Lady Dragons.

With the win, Trigg County improves to 5-2.
