maroons-5

After losing for the first time Saturday, the Madisonville Maroons had a bit of a flat start Sunday in the 5th place bracket semifinals at the Chad Gardner Law King of the Bluegrass. The Maroons shook off that slow start with a huge 3rd quarter blitz, as they came back to defeat Bishop McDevitt 64-58.

The Maroons were held to just 12 points in the first quarter and 11 more in the second, as the Lancers from Pennsylvania took a 34-23 lead at the break.

Madisonville then exploded for 27 points in the third quarter as they rallied to take a 50-43 lead. The Maroons were then able to hold on down the stretch to take the six point win.

K’Suan Casey led Madisonville with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Kenny White finished with a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Keshawn Stone also reached double figures with 11 points.

Robert Smith led Bishop McDevitt with 16 points.

Madisonville will play Monday afternoon in the 5th place game of the tournament, taking on McCracken County.
