Travis Perry and Dequin Donlow put on a show Monday night, but Perry had a little more scoring help as Lyon County beat Ballard Memorial 85-54 at the Green Palace.
Perry scored 21 of Lyon County’s 29 first quarter points as the Lyons built a 29-13 lead. The eighth grader finished with five 3-pointers and a career-high 42 points. He had 32 points at halftime as the Lyons led 49-26.
Donlow, Ballard Memorial’s senior guard, countered with 39 points, including eight 3-pointers.
However, Lyon County had more balanced scoring as they pulled away from the Bombers through all four quarters. Jackson Shoulders added 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Nick Whalin and Kade Blackburn each scored six points. Lyon County hit nine 3-pointers as a team and was 8-of-9 at the free throw line.
Brady Parrott scored seven points for Ballard Memorial as only four players reached the scoring column.
Lyon County finishes their pre-Christmas schedule with a 7-2 record. The Lyons will play in the Campbellsville Holiday Classic Thursday against the host school, coached by former University of Kentucky player Anthony Epps. Campbellsville brings a 3-4 record into the game. Other schools in the eight-team field are DuPont Manual (6-3), Taylor County (4-7), East Jessamine (6-2), Pleasure Ridge Park (7-2), Elizabethtown (4-0), and Washington County (1-7).
