Trigg County’s Audie Smith continued her strong start to the archery season with a first place finish Saturday at the Bailey Holt Memorial Archery Tournament at Marshall County Saturday.
The junior shot a 294 out of 300 to win the female division by four shots. Her score was the highest of anyone, besting North Marshall’s Christian Jones by two shots. Smith is averaging a 293.5 in her first two events – both wins.
Cole Joyce also brought home a top-five finish for Trigg County with a score of 287.
Trigg County didn’t field a full squad of 12 archers to qualify for a team score in the event, held to raise money to benefit the scholarship fund named after Holt, who was killed in a 2018 shooting at Marshall County High School. Holt planned on becoming a nurse after high school, with the scholarship set up at Murray State University.
