Not a great deal of change in this week’s Super 7. The top two appear to have distanced themselves somewhat from the rest of the pack at this point. There is no guarantee it stays that way for the rest of the season, but for right now, the rest are chasing the Maroons and the Trojans. Some interesting matchups are on the horizon, so the next few weeks could be quite interesting, and could see some movement among the top seven.

– Madisonville (8-1) – The Maroons are a single point away from possibly being 9-0 and having a chance to go deep into the King of the Bluegrass. A big week ahead as they head for the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic, which was won last season by a team out of the 2nd Region. Maroons still looking the favorite’s part in the region.

– Webster County (9-0) – If you are not taking the Trojans seriously, you might want to start. Of their nine wins, only two have come by less than 10 points. Those being to Christian County and Hopkinsville. Off for a little fun in the sun this weekend at the Marlin Classic at Panama City Beach.

– Christian County (3-5) – Don’t let the 3-5 record fool you. Their schedule has been nothing short of brutal. They could very easily be 5-3, as they had a chance against Owensboro, and lost to Webster without Olajuwon White. Another tough run coming up at the holiday tournament in Ashland.

– Lyon County (7-2) – The Lyons have now ripped off five wins in a row against teams they should probably be favored to beat. A trip to the Campbellsville holiday tournament this week, and then a big showdown coming up against Zion and Marshall County on January 4.

– Henderson County (4-4) – The northern Colonels, at this point, just do not have a win that makes you sit up and take attention. They are getting by the teams they should beat, but struggling in some other games where past Henderson County teams might not. Still a long season to go, but looking for a sign out of this team.

– Hopkinsville (4-5) – Much of what was written above about Henderson County could apply to Hopkinsville as well. The Tigers very nearly got one of those signature wins against Webster County on the Trojans’ home floor. Early January has back-to-back games with Madisonville and UHA.

– Caldwell County (4-5) – The Tigers opened the season at 0-5 and have rebounded with four straight wins. They sneak into the top seven at this point with their road win at Union County. The Tigers see some tough action ahead in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic on their home court.
