
Holly Springs, Miss., 6-8 senior Derek Fountain scored 31 points and his Hawks held off Evansville Bosse 70-69 in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton on Friday.
The teams battled back-and-forth for 32 minutes before a long shot by the Bulldogs just missed its mark at the final horn.
Holly Springs (12-3) took a 40-35 lead to halftime. But Bosse (4-3) rallied to go in front 58-57 through three quarters.
The Bulldogs’ 6-10 center Kiyron Powell had 18 points to lead his team. Kolten Sanford added 14 points and Ty’Ran Funches had 10 for Bosse.
Holly Springs got 12 points from Tyhem Reaves and 10 from Marquaveous Jones.
Fountain and Powell were named the game’s MVPs from their respective teams.
