A tough after Christmas return to the basketball court Friday for the Todd County Central Rebels, as they traveled to Ohio County to take part in the Beef O’Brady’s/Danny Annis Memorial Tournament. The Rebels opened the day with a 77-46 loss to the host Ohio County Eagles. Todd Central then returned to the court Friday evening and dropped a 70-50 decision to Henderson County.

In the game against Ohio County, the Rebels started slow and never got back in the game. Todd Central was held to three field goals in the first quarter, as the Eagles got out to the early 15-6 lead. The Ohio County offense then erupted for 29 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 44-18 at the half.

With big quarters from Deonte Toliver and Austin Rager, the Rebels held their ground with the Eagles in the third quarter, but could not cut into the big lead, as the quarter ended with Ohio County still up 63-37. The Eagles then rolled on to close out the 31 point win.

Toliver and Rager were the only Rebels to reach double figures. Toliver finished with 20 points, while Rager finished with 12.

Elijah Decker led four Eagles in double figures with 19 points.

In the matchup against Henderson County, the Rebels put up a fight against the Colonels, but could not match their offensive firepower. With the game tied at 9-9, Henderson County closed out the first quarter on a 9-0 run to go up 18-9.

The Rebels battled back in the second quarter, tying the game at 19-19. Henderson then hit Todd Central with another run to end a quarter, this one a 14-4 run, as the Colonels took a 33-23 lead into the break.

A 9-0 run, with all point scored from behind the arc, to open the second half for Henderson County effectively closed out the game. The Rebels would make a late run in the quarter, still Henderson led 54-37 when the quarter ended.

Todd Central would not threaten in the final quarter, as the Colonels rode it out to pick up the 20 point win.

Deonte Toliver again led the Rebels in scoring, this time with 16 points, while Austin Rager added 13.

Noah Curry was the Colonels’ top scorer with 15 points on the night.

With the losses, Todd County Central sees their record fall to 2-8 on the year.
