Walnut Hills Blitzes Fort Campbell in Zaxby’s Tournament

It was not a good day for the Fort Campbell offense to struggle to find the basket. The Falcons were limited to less than 10 points in each of the first three quarters, as Walnut Hills rolled to an 84-34 win in Fort Campbell’s opening game of the Zaxby’s Holiday Tournament in Clarksville.

Fort Campbell was limited to 2 field goals in the opening quarter, as Walnut Hills bolted out to a 29-5 lead. Things did not improve much in the second quarter, as the Falcons were held to just eight points, as Walnut Hills extended the lead to 45-13 at the half.

Walnut Hills kept the heat on coming out of the locker room for the second half. When the third quarter ended, the Falcons were trailing 65-22 and the running clock was in effect.

With reserves on the court for Walnut Hills over the final eight minutes, the Falcons had their best offensive quarter of the day, putting up 12 points. Still, Walnut Hills was able to extend the lead out to the final margin of 50 points.

For the Falcons, Cameron Pratt reached double figures with 14 points. Jeremiah Holley added 8 points. Aaron Hall finished the day with five points.

Owen Massey was the leading scorer for Walnut Hills with 18 points. Thirteen of those coming in the opening quarter, with all 18 coming before halftime.

The loss drops Fort Campbell’s record to 5-4.
