Central’s Girls Hold Off Webster at Hoops Classic (w/PHOTOS)

Amaya Asher poured in 29 points and Louisville Central’s girls won for the second straight day at the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton.

The Yellowjackets (7-3) built a 38-24 halftime lead and held off a late Webster County charge for a 67-59 triumph at Caldwell County’s CAB gym.

Webster (4-6) got hot from outside in the fourth quarter and tried to make things interesting late. The Lady Trojans got as close as seven points before Central held on for the eight-point decision.

Marissa Austin led Webster with 26 points.

Asher was named the team MVP for Central while Austin got the honor for the Lady Trojans.

Central routed Caldwell 71-35 in its game on Friday while Webster fell to Mayfield 51-42.
