For the second-straight game at the Murray Bank Tip-Off Classic at Calloway County, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers held their opponent to 48 points, but couldn’t generate enough offense to come away with the victory. After falling to Dresden, TN on Friday night, the Lady Tigers fell 48-26 to the host Lady Lakers on Saturday morning. Hopkinsville will close out play in the tournament with a matchup with Paducah Tilghman at 6:00 PM.
Hoptown’s Jakayla Epps scored on a drive to tie the game at 7-7 midway through the opening quarter, but Calloway closed on a 7-0 run, including 5-straight from Charlee Settle, to hold a 14-7 advantage after one.
The Lady Tigers continued to struggle to find the range on offense, while Adison Hicks chipped in 5 points for the Lady Lakers and they led 24-12 at halftime.
Settle got going again for Calloway after the break, scoring 7 third-quarter points to go with 5 from Elle Carson and they stretched the advantage to 20 before leading 38-20 after three.
Hopkinsville leading scorer Donisha Flowers only had a single bucket through three quarters, but her 6 points were the only offense for the Lady Tigers over the final eight minutes. Calloway got 5 more from Carson and cruised in for the 22-point victory.
