North Little Rock Handles South-Doyle at Hoops Classic (w/PHOTOS)

North Little Rock grabbed control of the contest in the second and third quarters and downed South-Doyle 71-52 Saturday afternoon in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic at Caldwell County High School.

South-Doyle, from Knoxville, Tenn., took a 20-19 lead after 8 minutes.

But North Little Rock (8-3) went up 36-29 at halftime. The Arkansas squad stretched the margin to 61-38 through three quarters and led by as much as 25 points in the second half.

Bryson Warren led the Charging Wildcats attack with 21 points. Spencer Simes added 16 and Laityn Sheppard had 10.

Kendrick Holland paced the Cherokees (8-5) with 17 points. Jaqwan Gillette had 10.

Both teams were playing in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic for the first time.

Simes was selected game MVP for North Little Rock.

Holland received the award for South-Doyle.
