
After dropping matchups with Butler and Scott County in its first two games at the Ashland Invitational at Ashland Blazer, the Christian County boys’ basketball team snapped a four-game skid with an 80-57 victory over Lewis County on Sunday.
Stephon Bussell started hot for the Colonels, pouring in 12 first quarter points, but Lewis County hled a 19-16 advantage after one. Bussell added 7 in the second and Christian County’s defense tightened, holding the Lions to only 10 points on the way to a 39-29 halftime lead.
The Colonels blew the game open in the third, with DaMikeon Mathis leading the charge with 6 points, outscoring the Lions by 12 to build a 22-point cushion.
Lewis County’s Bailey Thomas put up 7 points over the final eight minutes to go with 6 from Sam O’Keefe, but Kobe Dillard countered with 7 and the Colonels held on for the comfortable win.
