
The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons are headed for the semifinals of the championship bracket of the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic. The Maroons moved on with a hard fought 62-57 win over Simon Kenton Saturday night.
The Pioneers took the early control of the game, leading 15-10 after the opening quarter. The Maroons battled back using a 7-0 run to open the 2nd quarter and take a 17-15 lead. Madisonville would lead 23-21 going into the break at the half.
Simon Kenton came out in the third quarter and took the lead back, and held it for a big portion of the quarter. However, Madisonville finished the quarter on an 11-5 run to go up 42-37.
In the final quarter, Madisonville would lead by as many as 14 points at 56-42, before holding on to pick up the five point win over the Pioneers.
Kenny White had another big game for the Maroons. He finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. K’Saun Casey added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Tow was also in double figures for the Maroons with 14 points.
Jeremy Davis led Simon Kenton with 25 points. Jon Hensley added 14.
With the win, Madisonville now improves to 10-1 on the season, and will take on Bourbon County in one semifinal game Sunday.
