Kenny White messed around and got a triple-double, and Madisonville shot 54-percent to defeat Bourbon County 81-71 and advance to the championship game of the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic in Lexington.
The Maroons will play host Lexington Catholic in Monday night’s championship game. The Knights beat Frederick Douglass 68-57 in the other semifinal game.
White scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, pulled down 11 rebounds, and blocked 11 Colonel shots in 31 minutes of action.
K’Suan Casey joined White in double figures with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Bourbon County’s defense had match up troubles with Madisonville as the Maroons shot 54-percent from the field and hit 5-of-9 behind the arc.
The Maroons led 18-7 after one quarter and built their lead to 40-23 in the waning moments of the second quarter. The Colonels used an 11-0 run to cut their deficit to 76-71 late in the fourth quarter.
KeShawn Stone added 14 points and hit 4-of-5 at the free throw line.
Amirion Joyce hit 18-of-21 free throws and finished with 34 points for Bourbon County (10-2).
Madisonville’s 11-1 start is the best since 2000-01. That Maroon team finished 28-4 and advanced to the Sweet 16.
