The Madisonville Lady Maroons are off to their best start in 33 years after claiming the championship of the Marlin Holiday Classic Monday in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The Lady Maroons defeated New Manchster, Georgia 56-41 for the title.  That win came two days after edging Shelbyville Central, Tenn. in the semifinals.

Sophomore Camryn LaGrange and senior Lindsey Peyton were both named to the all-tournament team, and senior Courtney Peyton was named the tournament MVP.

It’s the second holiday tournament title in as many weekends, coming after the championship of the Russellville Food Bank Classic Dec. 22.

The 12-0 start by the Lady Maroons is the program’s best since the 1986-87 team won their first 27 games.

Madisonville will return to the Bluegrass State and play McCracken County Friday at McCracken County’s Mustang Madness.
