Crittenden County handed Lyon County its first 5th-District setback of the season and avenged an 18-point, early-December loss with a 73-45 shellacking of the Lyons on Friday night in Marion.
Lyon County paid for a slow start, with Erik O’Leary and Preston Turley each outscoring the Lyons with 9 points a piece on the way to an 18-6 Crittenden advantage after the first quarter.
Gabe Mott erupted for 12 second-quarter points and the onslaught continued, despite 8 points from Lyon’s Travis Perry. The Rockets took a commanding 46-18 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Perry and Gunnar Bingham combined for 11 third-quarter points out of the break, but Crittenden got 8 more from O’Leary and tacked on 6 more points to the lead for a 65-32 score.
Perry added 8 more in the final frame, but there would be no comeback and the Rockets cruised to the upset victory. The Lyons only had one player in double figures, with big man Jackson Shoulders held to only 4 points, 10 below his average.
