After being torched by Taylor Guess to the tune of 34 points in their first meeting in early December, the Lyon County Lady Lyons largely held Guess in check Friday night in Marion, however the result was the same, as the Lady Rockets earned the regular-season sweep with a 52-48 victory.
Cathryn Brown scored 5 first-quarter points to help the Lady Lyons to a 12-9 lead after one, but they couldn’t find the range in the second and were outscored 10-6 behind 5 points from Natalie Boone to give the Lady Rockets a 19-18 halftime edge.
Rose Smith got going for Lyon County after the break, scoring 9 points to push the Lady Lyons back in front at 33-32. Nahla Woodward continued her 12-point second half with 6 in the fourth, with Boone adding 7, and the Lady Rockets held on for the win.
With the loss, the Lady Lyons find themselves in a hole in district play at 1-4 with a trip to Christian County coming up on Monday. Crittenden sits in second place in the 5th-District standings at 3-1 behind unbeaten Trigg County.
