Big Days From McGee, Shemwell Lead Lady Colonels Past Clarksville

While Kiki Radford would like to see her Christian County Lady Colonels do a better job of closing out wins, she was pleased with how her team responded late in a 66-62 win over Clarksville, Tenn. Saturday in Russellville.

Eniya McGee was named the game MVP of Christian County’s win over Clarksville in the Coco Collier Classic at Russellville Saturday.

The Lady Colonels led 52-39 heading into the final quarter, but Clarksville battled back to get to within three points.  Eniya McGee hit a bucket with 58 seconds left to put Christian ahead 64-59.  Forte hit a free throw to extend Christian County’s lead to 65-59 with 21 seconds left.

McGee and Serenity Shemwell proved to be too much for Clarksville in the paint.  The duo combined for 13 points in the first quarter as the Lady Colonels got out to a 20-10 lead.

Clarksville cut the lead to 30-25 by halftime, but McGee scored nine points in the third quarter to help build the Lady Colonel lead to 13 points.

McGee finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds in being named the game’s MVP.  Shemwell added a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Erin Lackey led Clarksville with 18 points.

Christian County (4-8) will play their first home game of the season Monday when they welcome Lyon County to Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.
