
Lyon County looked good early against 1st Region contender Marshall County.
The Lyons led by as much as five points in the first quarter and still led 17-14 early in the second quarter.
But the Marshals turned things around in a big way. A 15-2 run gave Marshall County the upper hand, and the Marshals pulled away in the second half for a 77-46 triumph Saturday afternoon at McCracken County’s Mustang Madness in Paducah.
Travis Perry and Jackson Shoulders each scored 15 points for the Lyons, but no one else on the team had more than four points.
Marshall, which led 36-24 at halftime and 57-32 through three quarters, got 23 points from Tyler Stokes, who had 22 points at the intermission.
Heralded Marshal junior Zion Harmon did not play in the first quarter and did not score in the first half. However, he put up 15 points in the third period and finished with 18.
Jay Nimmo and Tyler Powell each added nine points for Marshall, which is now 7-8 against a stiff early-season slate.
Lyon is 8-6 against a challenging schedule of its own. The Lyons have dropped three straight and four of their last five outings.
Lyon will next host 5th District foe Livingston Central on Friday, Jan. 10, in Eddyville.
