The Heritage Christian Academy girls’ basketball team was on the road Saturday to begin play in the new year, but points were hard to come by for the Lady Warriors in a 42-26 loss to hosts Highlands Latin.
The Highlanders took a low-scoring first quarter 9-6 before stretching the lead out in the second. Maggie Hunsucker and Cambrie Malone each scored 4 points to help Highlands outscore HCA 14-5 and take a 23-22 lead into halftime.
Logan Gibson and Abbi Bullock each scored 4 out of the locker room and the Lady Warriors enjoyed their only double-digit scoring quarter of the game, but Highlands still added 3 points to the margin after three.
Neither team could find the range over the final eight minutes, with the teams combining for only 11 points and the Highlanders easing to the victory.
