
Playing their first game of the the new year, the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors improved on a 46-point loss earlier this season to Highlands Latin, but still fell 51-34 to the host Highlanders on Saturday.
Justin Gilbert and Luke Robson combined for 13 first-quarter points and the Highlanders held HCA to only two baskets to take an 18-6 lead after one.
Elijah Britton scored all 4 of his points in the second quarter, but the Warriors were still outscored 12-9 and were doubled-up 30-15 at the half.
After the break, Trenton Hayes knocked down two 3-pointers and Westin Powell added 4 points to help HCA trim 6 points off the Highlands’ lead for a 40-31 score with a quarter to play.
However, the Warriors again went cold in the fourth, with David Crunk’s 3-pointer providing their only points. The Highlanders only managed 11, but it was enough to seal the 16-point victory.
