Christian County’s full-court press eventually got to Lyon County.

The Lady Colonels forced 28 turnovers and pulled away late to beat the Lady Lyons 66-42 Monday night in Hopkinsville.

Lyon (5-9) was within 37-34 late in the third quarter and got off a 3-pointer that would have tied the game. However, the shot missed its mark, and the Lady Lyons could never draw even.

Cathryn Brown’s jumper from the corner pulled Lyon with 39-36 with 38 seconds left in the third quarter.

But Christian (5-8) finished the period with a fullry, scoring three baskets in the final 13 seconds to take a 45-36 lead to the final frame.

First, Serenity Shemwell scored from in close. She missed a chance to complete a three-point play, but Christian rebounded and Lydashe Bell scored. Following a Lyon turnover, Mikayah Killebrew scored just ahead of the horn to extend the Lady Colonel lead to nine points.

That also started a 17-2 run that put Christian squarely in command.

Lyon made just two field goals in the fourth quarter as Christian outscored the Lady Lyons 27-6 over the final 8:13 of the contest.
