Josh Robins has stepped down as Fort Campbell football coach after three seasons. Robins told YourSportsEdge.com that he made the decision to resign over the Christmas break and that his decision was effective immediately.
Fort Campbell was 4-27 in three seasons with Robins as head coach. The Falcons missed the playoffs in his first two seasons but a win over Ballard Memorial during the 2019 season made them eligible for the Class 2A playoffs. They lost to Mayfield 56-13.
Fort Campbell has not been able to replicate the same success in Class 3A that they enjoyed in winning three straight Class 2A state titles from 2007-09. However, the move to Class 2A in 2019 did net them their only district win in Robins’ three seasons.
Robins said there are some other coaching options he is exploring without naming specifics. He came to Fort Campbell in 2017 after five seasons as defensive coordinator at Clarksville Northwest. Robins is a U.S. Army veteran who played his high school football in Simpsonville, South Carolina. At Fort Campbell, the football program saw an increase in roster numbers and weight room work.
The job will be posted by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).
The next football coach will be Fort Campbell’s fourth since their last state football title in 2009.
