Unbeaten Lady Maroons Stay at the Top of Girls Super 7

The top part of the YSE Girls’ 2nd Region Super 7 continues to have a familiar look to it. The top three teams still hold their positions at the peak of the list. Below that, however, there is some movement this week as we reach the middle of the season. Still, the question looms is there any team that can make a move and encroach on the territory that has belonged to the Lady Maroons, the Lady Colonels, and the Lady Trojans all season long.

1 – Madisonville (14-0) – The Lady Maroons keep on winning. And, more impressively, they make it very hard for opponents to score. Through 14 games, only one opponent has scored more than 50 points, and that team still got beat by 20-plus. Safe to say it, the Lady Maroons are for real and are going to be a tough out.

2 – Henderson County (5-5) – The northern Lady Colonels still have yet to play a 2nd Region opponent. They did fall to Marshall County, who was handled by Madisonville. Just remember that Madisonville and Henderson will meet a week from Saturday on the Lady Colonels home court.

3 – Webster County (4-7) – The Lady Trojans have played a brutally tough schedule. Whether or not that pays off come tourney time is yet to be seen. Webster has dropped three in a row, headed into their Class 2A matchup with Calloway County this weekend.

4 – Trigg County (13-2) – The Lady Wildcats are off to the best start in program history. While some of that may be schedule related, still 13-2, with nine straight wins is nothing to sneeze at. January 16 is when this team gets to find out just how much progress they have made this season.

5 – Caldwell County (7-5) – The Lady Tigers have won their last three, but there are some injury concerns that could affect the team going forward. A big test coming up Friday night as they host the Lady Maroons in a 7th District battle.

6 – Crittenden County (9-4) – The Lady Rockets have been on a bit of a roll, winning four in a row and eight of their last nine games. They could now be one of the contenders headed into next week’s 2nd Region All A Classic. A big game against Trigg coming up Friday night.

7 – Christian County (5-8) – The southern Lady Colonels have won three of their last four games. However, an injury to Trinity McGee could leave Christian County trying to restructure some things in the middle of the season, which is never an easy thing.
