Big First Quarter Sets Tone, Apollo Beats Dawson 95-65

A big first quarter put Owensboro Apollo in control, and the Eagles went on to claim a 95-65 decision at Dawson Springs on Saturday.

The visitors put up 34 points in the first quarter while building a 19-point edge after 8 minutes.

Apollo (3-13) led by much as 20 in the first half.

Dawson (5-9) tried to make a game of it in the second quarter, getting as close as 11 points at 46-35 before the Eagles went to halftime with a 49-35 advantage.

But the Panthers couldn’t make up any ground after the break.

Instead, Apollo stretched the margin to 75-52 through three quarters. The Eagles went up by as much as 33 points late before leaving with the 30-point win.

Apollo also beat Dawson 75-45 Dec. 30 in Owensboro.

Harrison Bowman led the Eagles in the rematch with 23 points. Cameron Frantz had 16, Malik Wilson 14 and Landon Hamilton 13 for Apollo.

The Panthers got 22 points from Skyler Clark. Landon Pace finished with 17 points nad Dylan Dawson added 10.

Dawson Springs will next visit Lyon County on Tuesday for a first round matchup in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
