Elijah Britton’s floater with 3.8 seconds left lifted Heritage Christian Academy to a 42-40 win at South Haven Monday in Springfield, Tenn. The win by the Warriors avenged a 10-point loss to the Patriots last month in Hopkinsville.
Britton’s game-winner came off an inbounds play with 11 seconds left and the game tied at 40. Britton finished with a team-high 10 points for the Warriors.
Heritage led 15-11 after one quarter as Derek Wadlington scored six of his seven points in the opening frame.
South Haven answered with a 9-3 second quarter run for a two-point halftime lead.
Weston Powell had nine points and 13 rebounds for HCA.
Emmanuel Deng, who scored 19 points in the South Haven win in December, was held to one second half field goal and finished with 13 points.
“Carlos Robles played incredible defense on Deng,” HCA Coach Matt McGowan said Robles, who transferred in from Clarksville over the holidays. “He gives us the perimeter defender we have been missing.”
HCA doesn’t get much time to celebrate their third win. They will play Tuesday at Bethel Christian Academy in Leitchfield.
