
Caldwell County is one win away from its very first 2nd Region All A Classic championship.
However, standing in the Tigers’ way is perennial region champion — and nine-time All A state champ — University Heights Academy.
Caldwell will take its shot at UHA after routing Fort Campbell 77-39 in semifinal round play Friday night at Livingston Central High School in Smithland.
Caldwell, which has climbed back to .500 at 8-8 since starting the season 0-5, scored the first nine points of the game against the Falcons.
The Tigers led 20-9 after one quarter, then blew the game open in the second period. A Tripp Branch 3-pointer at the horn sent Caldwell to the locker room with a 49-22 advantage.
The Tigers led by as much as 37 points in the third quarter before taking a 67-32 lead to the final frame.
The biggest lead of the night came at 73-34.
Caldwell shot 52.5 percent from the floor, making 32 of 61 attempts. The Tigers had just five turnovers in the contest and outrebounded Fort Campbell 36-17.
Branch topped the Tiger scoresheet with 17 points. Cayden Fraliex had 13 points and seven rebounds. Adarius Riley and Cole Smiley added 10 points each.
Fort Campbell (6-10) was led by Cameron Pratt’s 11 points. Aaron Hall added eight points.
