Shannon Carter has resigned as girls’ soccer coach at Christian County with her replacement to be named Wednesday afternoon.
Carter’s resignation was effective Nov. 9. She was 19-37-4 in three seasons as Lady Colonel coach. In 2018, the Grayson County native coached the Lady Colonels to a 10-9-2 record. Their 2-1 win over cross-town rival Hopkinsville in the district tournament semifinals gave the program its first region tournament berth in six seasons.
Last year, Christian County slipped to a 4-15-1 record mainly due to injuries that sidelined as many as five starters for some games. Christian County lost to eventual champion University Heights 2-0 in the semifinals.
The Lady Colonels are set to return their top four scorers in 2020.
Carter confirmed her resignation to YourSportsEdge.com but said she will remain teaching at Christian County High School.
The school is set to name Carter’s replacement Wednesday afternoon at a 2:30 media conference.
