Kerry Stovall put together his 2019-20 Christian County basketball schedule, he was anticipating a full roster of players to attack one of the toughest slates in the state. The latest KHSAA RPI rankings say the Colonels have the eighth toughest schedule in the state.
However, injuries have sidelined several Colonel starters for parts or most of the season. And the tough schedule has remained in place. The latest roadblock for the Colonels came Tuesday with a 64-50 loss at Bowling Green. Its their second loss to the Purples this year.
Bowling Green steadily pulled away from Christian County, leading 12-9 after one quarter and 28-19 at halftime.
Stephen Bussell paced three Colonels in double figures with 18 points. Mikeon Mathis added 12 points.
Christian County (6-12) is hoping to have their entire roster healthy within the next few weeks. Until then, they will host Hopkinsville Friday in a key Eighth District showdown at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.
