Henderson Returns to #1 in YSE Girls Super 7

A change at the top this week, as Henderson County reclaims the #1 position in the Girls Super 7. A home court win over Madisonville was a big one, but you get a feeling these two teams will meet again on a much bigger stage. There was also some shuffling lower in the rankings this week following play in the 2nd Region All A Classic. And, with some of the games that are ahead, we may not be none with teams jockeying for position as the postseason draws near.

1 – Henderson County (9-6) – The northen Lady Colonels picked up a statement win in their game against Madisonville. While it was on their homecourt, it was a double digit win neverless. If the two teams were to meet again this season, the stakes will be much much higher.

2 – Madisonville (19-1) – The challenge now for the Lady Maroons is to see how they respond to their first loss of the season. Already they have come back with big wins over Dawson Springs and McLean County. There is a shot that this team runs the table for the rest of the regular season.

3 – Webster County (4-8) – The Lady Trojans have not played since January 11. How that layoff affects them in the middle of the season will be seen over the next couple of weeks. District games with Union and Henderson loom on the horizon, as well as showdowns with Muhlenberg County and Murray.

4 – Trigg County (15-4) – The Lady Wildcats have been off since their appearance in the Class 2A tournament. They get back to action with a stretch of contests that include Union County, Apollo, and Henderson County. This group will be battle tested by the time the 5th District tourney gets rolling along.

5 – Christian County (5-9) – While banged up a bit, the southern Lady Colonels are still a dangerous squad to have to face on any given night. Big games ahead against an improving Hopkinsville team and the defending region champion Henderson County. Two big games to watch as to how they affect the rest of the season for this group.

6 – Lyon County (9-10) – The Lady Lyons were impressive in dispatching Caldwell County in the girls 2nd Region All A Classic. They struggled against West Carter in Richmond, but showed in the second half what got them past Caldwell County. Consistency in play for the full 32 minutes would put this team in contention position in the 5th District.

7 – Caldwell County (9-7) – The Lady Tigers hopes of getting back to the All A Classic were dashed by injuries and the Lady Lyons. A big stretch of four games ahead, including games against Trigg, Marshall, and Lyon County could give this team a nice chance to rebound and get their footing back under them.
