
A slow start proved costly for the Fort Campbell Falcons Friday night. Fort Campbell could only muster seven points in the first quarter and that turned out to be the difference as the Falcons fell 64-56 on the road at Crittenden County.
The Rocket defense got off to a solid start in the contest, limiting the Falcons to just three field goals. Meanwhile, with Preston Turley opening hot, the Crittenden County offense got things rolling early. Turley scored 8 points in the opening quarter as the Rockets took a 19-7 lead after one.
The Falcon offense got itself on track during the 2nd quarter. However, the Crittenden County offense was still rolling along. With Turley connecting for eight more, the Rockets were able to hold on to a 36-26 lead at the half.
Field goal shooting was the difference in the first half. Fort Campbell connected on 10 of 24 in the first sixteen minutes, while Crittenden County hit on 14 of 23.
Behind the play of Ryan Pretlow and Cameron Pratt, the Falcons made their bid to get back in the game in the 3rd quarter. The duo combined for 12 points in the quarter, as the Falcons trimmed the lead to 46-40 at the end of the quarter.
Despite a big final quarter from Jeremiah Holley, Crittenden County was able to hold on down the stretch and pick up the eight point win.
Holley led the way for the Falcons with 17 points. Cameron Pratt added 14 for Fort Campbell.
A big night for Preston Turley, who was the Rockets top scorer with 25 points. Ekik O’Leary added 15 for Crittenden County.
The Rockets stayed hot from the field for the entire contest, finishing the night at 27 of 49 from the field. Fort Campbell ended up 21 of 50 for 42-percent.
The loss drops Fort Campbell to 6-12 on the season. Crittenden County improves to 9-9.
