Trigg County finished fifth Saturday at the Fort Knox Invitational and had five wrestlers finish in the top four.
Colin Stevens defeated North Oldham’s Bryce Moberly by a 5-4 decision in the championship match of the 170-pound class. Stevens, ranked second statewide in the 170-pound class, has given Moberly, ranked third, two of his three losses this year.
Andrew Hendricks finished second in the 220-pound class. His only loss of the day was to Hopkinsville’s Denarius Barnes.
Thomas Bruce had one of his best days of the year, finishing second in the 120-pound class. He lost a 6-2 decision to Lafayette’s Isaac Fain, the state’s 21st ranked wrestler in the 120-pound class, in the championship match.
Timmy Cannon, who came into the day ranked 23rd in the state, finished third in the 113-poind class, defeating North Oldham’s Jake Huston by fall in in the third place match. His only loss of the day came to Cooper’s Hunter Sproles, the 11th ranked wrestler in the class.
Ty Saez took fourth place in the 285-pound class. He defeated Taylor County’s Scott Hall by fall in the consolation semifinals. He lost to Apollo’s Blaze Cart in the third place match.
As a team, Trigg County finished fifth in the 14-team field with 85 points. Lafayette (208.5) finished first with Caldwell County (122.5) second and Hopkinsville (118.5) third.
