The Fort Campbell Falcons nearly ended their five game losing streak Tuesday evening. The Falcons got off to a good start but then saw the Russellville Panthers rally in the 4th quarter to pull out a 58-53 win on post Tuesday night.
The story of the beginning of the game was the Fort Campbell defense. The Falcons limited the Panthers to just three first quarter field goals, as they jumped out to a 13-6 lead. TreShawn Washington, Cameron Pratt, and Aaron Hall, all had roles in getting the Falcons out to the early lead.
The two teams went back and forth during the second quarter. Russellville was able to cut the lead to 26-21 at the break. Cameron Pratt helped to keep the Falcons in the lead, finishing the quarter with seven points, giving him 11 in the half.
The two teams continued to play even through the third quarter. Russellville again cut the lead, but only by one point at quarter’s end, as Fort Campbell led 42-38 going into the final quarter.
Jovari Gamble and Jaquis Todd got going in the 4th quarter and helped the Panthers get started on the comeback trail. With the two combining for 13 points, Russellville outscored Fort Campbell 20-11 over the final eight minutes to pull out the five point victory.
Cameron Pratt had a big night for the Falcons, finishing with 19 points. Aaron Hall was the other Falcon to hit double figures with 11. TreShawn Washington had 8 points, all of them coming in the first half of play.
Jaquis Todd led all scorers in the game. Todd finished the night with 20 points for the Panthers. Jovari Gamble also hit double figures with 10. Josh Allen added 8 points.
The loss drops Fort Campbell to 6-14 on the season. The Falcons return to action Thursday at Christian County in an 8th District contest.
