Caldwell County faced an uphill battle most of the second half at Lyon County.
But a Jacey Jaggers 3-pointer with 1:31 left in the game gave the Lady Tigers a 44-43 lead, and Caldwell held on for a 47-46 victory Thursday night at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.
The Lady Tigers (11-9) overcame a seven-point deficit with less than 5 minutes to play to defeat Lyon for the second time in three meetings this season.
Lyon (10-12), which beat Caldwell in the 2nd Region All A Classic championship game, took a 41-34 lead on two Cathryn Brown free throws with 4:47 to play.
After Jaggers’ 3 pushed Caldwell in front, Bella McConnell made two free throws with 1:05 to go to give the Lady Tigers a 46-43 advantage.
Majah Hollowell appeared to salt the game away when she made the second of two free throws with 8.8 seconds remaining. That made it 47-43.
However, Rose Smith got a 3-pointer to go down at the other end, making it 47-46 with still 3.4 seconds left.
Following a timeout, Caldwell was able to get the ball inbound to Jaggers, and she was able to dribble out the final seconds to secure the win for the Lady Tigers.
Besides Jaggers’ big game, Caldwell got 11 points and 13 rebounds from Bella McConnell.
Smith finished with 20 points to lead Lyon. Brown had 10 points while Calista Collins grabbed 10 rebounds to go with three points.
Caldwell led 21-18 at halftime. But Lyon went up by as much as eight in the third quarter, 42-34, before taking a 35-29 advantage to the final stanza.
The Lady Lyons will play at home again on Friday against Union County.
The Lady Tigers will go to Calloway County on Saturday night for a makeup date.
