Travis Perry scored 26 points and the Lyon County Lyons pulled away late to deal Caldwell County a 68-57 setback Thursday night at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.

Down 11 late in the third quarter, the visiting Tigers pulled to within 60-57 with 1:48 left in the game on a basket from inside by Cole Smiley.

However, Jackson Shoulders scored on a stickback at the other end to give the Lyons some breathing room.

Lyon (14-8) then put the game away at the free throw line, hitting six free throws in the final 34 seconds to claim its fourth-straight win.

Two technical fouls on the Caldwell bench helped the Lyons get to the charity stripe.

The Tigers (9-13) were upset when no foul was called on a Jamarius Blaine drive to the basket inside the final minute that could have potentially made it a one-possession game.

Perry made three of the four technical free throws and was 11 of 14 at the stripe in the fourth quarter.

Shoulders added 16 points for Lyon while Nick Whalin had 14.

Caldwell was led by Tripp Branch, who hit six 3-pointers and finished with 19 points. Adarius Riley had 16 points and Cayden Fraliex 10.

Lyon won the Border Battle trophy in a competition between the student sections. Caldwell had taken the trophy when the schools met back in December.

Lyon plays on its home floor again on Saturday night when it hosts Calloway County.

Caldwell next visits Hopkins County Central on Tuesday as part of a 7th District girls and boys doubleheader.
