Murray used a 15-0 first half run to beat Christian County 44-30 Friday to get their fifth straight win over the Lady Colonels.

Christian County used the long ball to jump out to an 11-7 first quarter lead thanks to a trio of 3-pointers.  Then came the drought.  Murray scored the next 15 points as Christian County endured a nearly 14-minute drought without a field goal.

The Lady Tigers led 24-12 at halftime and maintained a 33-21 lead after three quarters.

Christian County cut the lead to nine points midway through the fourth quarter.  The key sequence to the game came when Christian County fouled and put Murray at the free throw line.  Murray got four offensive rebounds off four straight missed free throws and were able to convert just enough to keep Christian County at bay.

Murray shot 50-percent (14-of-28) from the field for the game but kept Christian County around by hitting just 9-of-23 free throws in the fourth quarter and 12-of-29 for the game.

Christian County shot 11-of-48 from the floor (23-percent).  After hitting 3-of-6 shots behind the arc in the first quarter, the Lady Colonels missed their final ten 3-point attempts.

Murray also controlled the boards 32-22.

The Lady Tigers (10-10) got 16 points from Makenzie Turley and 12 points and 18 rebounds from Jamera Jones.

Eniya McGee led Christian County with eight points.

The loss was Christian County’s fifth straight to Murray since the schools resumed the series in 2017.  The Lady Colonels’ last win over Murray came in 2001.

Christian County travels to Apollo Saturday.
