High powered offense and a pressure defense from Trinity Christian Academy was too much for the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors to overcome Saturday afternoon. Trinity knocked down ten three pointers and forced the Warriors into numerous turnovers, as the Titans rolled to an 86-49 win.
Hertigage Christian led only once in the contest, that coming when a Derek Wadlington basket gave the Warriors an early 4-2 lead. With the game tied at 7-7. the Titans used a 7-0 run to push the lead out to 14-7. A David Crunk three cut the lead to 14-10. Trinity then went on a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 23-10. The Warriors would get no closer than nine points for the remainder of the game.
The first quarter came to an end with Trinity leading 26-14.
HCA would cut the lead to nine points in the second quarter, but could never get a sustained run going. Everytime it appeared the Warriors were about ready to make a move, the Titans had an answer. With Trinity leading 42-32, the Titans closed out the half with the final eight points to take a 50-32 lead into the locker room.
The Titans then came out and put the game away in the third quarter. Leading 63-38, Trinity scored the final 15 points of the third quarter to go up 78-38 and bring the running clock into play for the remainder of the game.
Reserves saw extensive action for both teams in the final eight minutes as the Titans cruised it on out for the 37 point win.
Heritage was led by Westin Powell with 11 points, including two made three pointers. David Crunk was the other Warrior to reach double figures with 10. Trenton Hayes added 8 points. Derek Wadlington and Trevor Gibson had six points each.
Trinity’s Carter Fisher led all scorers in the game with 23 points. Joseph Waters came up with 20 for the Titans. Xavier Lane also hit double figures with 18 points.
