Leaky Roof, Wet Floor Halts Caldwell Doubleheader at Hopkins Central

2-4-jaggers

The basketball doubleheader between Caldwell County and Hopkins Central in Mortons Gap Tuesday was suspended due to a leaky roof and a wet floor.

Heavy rains Tuesday caused the gym roof at Hopkins County Central to leak in more than one place.  Officials thought they could keep the water off the floor during the girls’ game.

With Hopkins County Central leading 5-2 just over three minutes into the game, a Caldwell player slipped on the wet floor.  Coach Chuck Mitchell pulled his team off the floor and the decision was made to stop the game.  The boys’ game was postponed.

The game was determined to be suspended and will likely resume at a later date.  Because it was a district game, and the 7th District seeds teams for the district tournament, it’s likely the game will be resumed at some point.  No decision was known concerning the boys’ game.
