Twins are a rarity. Athletic twins are even more rare. The Union College football team will get to enjoy that rarity for the next four years as Conner and Hayden Lackey both signed to play football for the Barbourville school Wednesday.
The Lackeys were among the tackle leaders for the Hopkinsville during the 2019 football season. Conner had 63 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles. Hayden had 50 total tackles and led the Tiger defense with 10 tackles for loss and five sacks. Conner also received the Captains Award at the Tiger team banquet. Both brothers were also named to the All-Western Kentucky Conference Team.
They were a key part of a Hopkinsville defense that won 19 games in three seasons.
Union College is an NAIA school located in Barbourville. They struggled to an 0-11 record in 2019 but have recruited the state hard in trying to get some of the state’s best talent in hopes of rebuilding the program to prominence.
