Weston Wood believes his best golf is ahead of him. And that’s good news to for the Brescia golf program.
Wood signed his letter Wednesday to continue his academic and athletic career at the Owensboro school.
Wood is a two-time All-Region golf player. He finished as region runner-up after shooting a 3-over 75 at the Owensboro Country Club last fall.
He is the only UHA golfer to advance to the second day of the state golf tournament in consecutive years. He finished 50th as a senior and 58th as a junior.
In addition to making the cut at the KHSAA state tourney twice, Wood also won the All-A Classic region title and finished ninth at the All-A Classic State Tournament last September.
Last year, he finished 16th at the Junior PGA Championship and won the Junior PGA Match Play event at Valhalla Golf Club in March.
Wood will play for a Brescia golf team that claimed the River States Conference title for the second straight year and finished 28th at the NAIA National Championship. The Bearcats have three seniors on this year’s roster and have a solid recruiting class headed there in the fall that includes Hopkins County Central senior Trae Barber.
