Short-Handed Lady Falcons Fall at Christian Fellowship

s0010002-2

Playing without three of its regulars, including leading rebounder Lauren Anderson, the Fort Campbell girls’ basketball team couldn’t maintain a strong start on the way to a 51-22 loss to hosts Christian Fellowship on Friday night.  The Lady Falcons’ losing run continues, while the surging Lady Eagles win their fourth in five outings.

Asia Cabili broke a 4-4 tie with a 3-pointer with 2:47 left in the first, but the Lady Eagles responded with a 6-0 run to take a 3-point lead.  Cabili closed the quarter on a jumper with just :04 left to trim the margin to 1 at 10-9.  Gracie Howard scored 8 of her game-high 15 in the first for the Lady Eagles.

Christian Fellowship blew the game open in the second quarter with its full-court press, holding the Lady Falcons scoreless for the remainder of the first half.  Six Lady Eagles scored in the second quarter, and they led 29-9 at the halftime break.

Fort Campbell got 6 more from Cabili and 4 from Danielle Houston and pulled to within 16 after a jumper by Jittakarn Teerapunyyachai with 2:22 left in the third, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way.

The Lady Falcons were outscored 8-1 in the fourth, with the only point coming on 1 of 3 free throws for Cabili after she was fouled on a 3-pointer at the final buzzer.  They finished 10/53 from the field, including 1/6 from 3, while pulling down a whopping 49 rebounds, 24 offensive.  Teerapunyyachai collected a team-high 16 boards, while Cabili had 12 and Houston came down with 10.
