
After claiming Region 1 and state wrestling titles last season at 132 lbs., Christian County’s Jakerion Merritt looks to be on a similar path at 145 this season after he secured his second-straight region championship on Saturday at Trigg County High School.
After knocking off Union County’s Trevor Pogue in the final to move to 31-0 on the year, Merritt wasn’t entirely pleased with his performance, and while he’s not overlooking anyone, he says he’s heading to the state tournament confident in his ability.
