
Hickman County rallied from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to edge Lyon County 49-48 Monday at Jason White Gymnasium. Leigh Ann Jones hit 1-of-2 free throws with 1.3 seconds left for the winning margin.
Lyon County took a 40-29 lead into the fourth quarter. Calista Collins and Rose Smith combined to score 14 of Lyon’s 16 third quarter points as they outscored the Lady Falcons 16-7. The tables were turned in the fourth quarter as Hickman hit 8-of-13 shots from the floor.
Lyon County hit 4-of-5 from the field in the final frame but hit just 2-of-5 free throws and turned the basketball over six times that aided Hickman County in their comeback. Jones also scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning free throw.
Smith finished with 16 points for the Lady Lyons, while Collins added 10 points. Cathryn Brown also scored 10 points, and Ella Defew contributed nine rebounds off the bench.
Lyon County (12-14) returns to action Friday at Union County.
